Betty Dewey Batchelder

Mrs. Betty Dewey Batchelder, 87, a resident of Denham Ave. in Columbia, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Memorial services for Mrs. Batchelder will be conducted Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter?s Episcopal Church in Columbia with Father Tom Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the St. Anne?s Church Yard Cemetery in Annapolis, Maryland. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the church parish hall. Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Ludington, MI, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Laura Zimmerman Dewey and was the wife of the late Charles F. Batchelder. She was a graduate from Michigan State and Baltimore City College, a retired hotel administrator, a former employee of Anne Arundel Hospital in Annapolis, MD, served with the American Red Cross during WWII in England and France, original member of the board of directors of Hope House of Annapolis, MD and a member of the Episcopal Women of St. Peter?s Episcopal Church in Columbia and a longtime member of St. Anne Episcopal Church in Annapolis, MD.

She is survived by a son, James G. Batchelder of Morgantown, WV; step-son, Charles F. Batchelder, II of Quilcene, WA; step-daughter, Joan B. Tonnessen of Columbia; four grandchildren, Lauren Batchelder- Rosburg of San Diego, CA, Charles F. Batchelder, III of Annapolis, MD, Sarah Marie Batchelder and Liam James Batchelder, both of Crofton, MD; five step-grandchildren, Judith Anne Moore of Charlotte, NC, John W. Tonnessen of Pensacola, FL, Roger Tonnessen of Pace, FL, Dorothy Ireland of Middleburg, FL and Richard Batchelder of Quilcene, WA; 10 step great grandchildren and 6 step great-great grandchildren.
