Betty JoAnn Chapman, age 75, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 at her home surrounded by family in Ethridge, TN. Betty was born October 13, 1945 in Oakland, CA to the late Fredrick Clanton and the late Irene Souza Clanton.
Betty spent a majority of her life caring for others. She was a loving mother and grandmother raising many children, whom she loved to cook and bake for. She also cared people working as CNA for 40 years. When she wasn't working she loved spending time on the Tennessee River even though she couldn't swim. She had a house boat that she enjoyed taking out whenever she could, often dropping a line off the side fishing for catfish. Betty wasn't afraid to tell you the truth as she saw it and at times could be a little stubborn, but she loved her family deeply. Betty is loved and will be dearly missed.
Betty is survived by her children: Connie (Jimmy) Workman, Donald Patton, Jr., Shelly (Gene) Hushbeck, and Chris Weins; grandchildren: Christy Workman, Desiree Husbeck, Stephanie Hushbeck, D.J. Woodard, and Sara Patton; step granddaughter: Dawn (Tony) Naugle; siblings: Maggie (Mike) McHugh, Ginger (Bruce) Day, Jack (Donna) Clanton, and Jeff (Tamra) Clanton; and several nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her husband: Gary Chapman granddaughter: JoAnn Workman; and sister: Gail (James) Snedcor.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, TN. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2020 also at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Johnny Higgason officiating. Burial will follow at Blowing Springs Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

Pallbearers are Logan Martin, D.J. Woodard, Nick Vincent, Gene Hushbeck, Josh Weis, and Roger Workman.
