Betty Binkley Wakefield

Betty Binkley Wakefield, 70, resident of Iris Drive in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 at NHC/Hillview, Columbia, TN.

Born in Maury County, October 14, 1940 Betty Ellen Binkley was the daughter of the late Ellen Viola Gilliam Binkley and Walter Davidson Binkley. She was a 1958 graduate of Jones High School, Lynnville, Tennessee. Betty was preceded in death by Jerry Dooley, her husband of 37 years. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Main Street Church of Christ. In 1999, Betty married Charles Louis Wakefield of Columbia. Betty retired from Maury County School System after serving thirty-five years as secretary/bookkeeper at Mt. Pleasant High School.

She is survived by her husband: Charlie Wakefield; two step-sons: Robert Patricia Wakefield of Columbia and Terry Jenny Wakefield of Nashville; four step-grandchildren: Lindsey Ryan Wilke, Lauren Wakefield, Sydney Wakefield and Luke Wakefield; first cousin: Gayle Jack Willoughby; several other cousins; special caregiver: Sheila Hickman; many friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wakefield will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Randy Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in the Lynnwood Cemetery in Lynnville.

The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 -8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers are Ronnie Dugger, Hendley Edwards, J.B. Lamar, Ed Lang, Clarence Roberts, Jr., Shane Willoughby, Hal Brown and Randy McNeece. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Wolaver, W.C. Johnson, Curtis Anderson and members of the 1958 graduating class of Jones High School.
