Mrs. Betty Ann Sweat Ballard, age 79, a resident of Katie Lane in Columbia, passed away Monday, June 15 at NHC/Hillview.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ballard will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, June 18 at the Riverside United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Wedgwood officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, VA on Saturday, June 20.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Thursday at the church.

Born November 30, 1930 in Norfolk, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ella Kitchens Sweat and the wife of Stan Ballard. Betty Ann was a loving housewife, mother and grandmother. She sang with the Sweet Adelines and once served as the president of the Nashville chapter of Sweet Adelines. When she met people, she addressed them as ?Precious?. In her younger days she taught ballroom dancing and tap dancing. While she and her husband moved a total of 23 times, she was an active member in the Methodist Church throughout her life.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son: Mark Jennifer Ballard of Columbia; granddaughter: Nicole Ballard of Columbia.
Pallbearers will be the Gentleman?s Sunday School Class of the Riverside United Methodist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Riverside United Methodist Church, 313 Sixth Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401 or to the American Cancer Society, Maury Co. Unit, P. O. Box 1864, Columbia, TN 38402.
