Bethany L. Wells Massey, age 51, resident of Fayetteville and long time Columbia resident, passed away on Friday, November 12, at her residence.
A memorial service for Beth will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Ashley Brown and Rick Points officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Born December 1, 1958 in Maury County, Bethany was the daughter of Ret. Col. Larry G. and Joyce Sanders Massey of Fayetteville. She received her registered nursing degree from Columbia State Community College and had worked for Maury Regional Hospital as well as Baptist Hospital in Nashville and a Home Health agency. Before her career in nursing, Beth was the first active duty training non-commissioned officer for Headquarters Company 473rd Support Battalion, 30th Separate Armed Brigade stationed in Columbia with the Army National Guard. One of Beth's passions in life was vegetable and flower gardening and canning. She loved all animals, and was truly an animal activist. Beth was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors in addition to her parents include a brother: Steven Susan Massey of Fayetteville; two sisters: Vicki Massey and Sherry Blocker, both of Murfreesboro; one nephew: Steven Jesse Massey of Hawaii and one niece: Melissa McGee of Fayetteville; great niece and nephews: Lyrik Jane Massey, Jude Dylan Massey and J.J. McGee.
