Mrs. Bessie Mae Holloway Charles, age 80, a resident of Crestland Dr. in Columbia, passed away on Sunday, April 26, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles will be conducted Tuesday, April 28th at 11:00 AM at New Life Church in Columbia with Pastor Darryl Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

Williams Funeral Home of Columbia is in charge of arrangements.

Born June 7, 1928 in Varner Arkansas, Bessie was the daughter of the late Robert and Grace Winston Holloway. She was a retired manager at Sears Roebuck Company. Bessie was a longtime volunteer at Maury Regional Medical Center. She worked in same day surgery and the Gift Shop. She was a very active member at New Life Church, 6111 Cayce Lane of Columbia where she served as a Deacon for many years, she also volunteered for We Care food bank.

Survivors include two sisters: Bertha Calvert Emmett of Columbia, TN and Joyce Cunningham of Murfreesboro, TN; one brother: William Cunningham Marie; nephews and nieces: M. K. Jamison of Nashville, TN, Cheryl Jamison of Annapolis, MD., Michael Jamison Jeanette of Parker, CO, Mikki Raines Tony of Columbus, GA, Venita Cunningham and John Cunningham of Memphis, Billy Cunningham of Three Rivers, MI and Christopher Cunningham of Los Angeles, CA; great nieces and nephews: Latoia Sykes of Atlanta, GA, T.R. Raines of Columbus, GA, Morgan Jamison of Parker, CO, Erianna Nelson of Memphis.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Cunningham and Carl Cunningham of Chicago.

Pallbearers will be Darren Williams, Roger Spilker, Dave Johnson, Douglas Jones, Les Nienow, Scott Pugh, Jousha Nienow and Eric Scheitel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Pittenger, Mike Fickler, John Bilderback, John Burt, Howard Dalton, Terrell Duncan and Jason Tooms.
