Bertha Marie Blocker

Mrs. Bertha Marie Bennett Blocker, age 79, a resident of North High Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, August 25 at NHC/Hillview Nursing Home.

Born November 27, 1930, the Maury County native was the daughter of the late Claude W. and Della Ann Langham Bennett and the wife of Ray Blocker, for 58 years. She worked for Dixie Manufacturing, Mt. Pleasant Manufacturing and Publix. Her life was spending everyday with her husband, children and grandchildren, loved to cook for her family and watch her grandchildren play sports. She was a very active member of Main Street Church of Christ.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Linda Marie Blocker of Columbia and David Denise Blocker of Mt. Pleasant; sisters: Betty Ann Eley and Jewel Briceno, both of Columbia and Joyce Sherrill Schrimsher of Athens, AL; grandchildren: Ashley Tyler Hughes of Morris, Al, Kelsey Devin McKenzie and Drew Blocker, both of Mt. Pleasant, Crystal Wayne Helton and Jessica Grooms, both of Columbia; great grandchildren: Tristan Fox, Jade Hernandez and Tripp Helton, all of Columbia; sisters-in-law: Cora Faye Bennett of Summertown and Shirley Bennett of Hermitage. She was preceded in death by a sister: Alice Colvett and brothers: Willie Claude Bennett and Charles C. Bennett.

Funeral services for Mrs. Blocker will be conducted Friday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Randy Kersey officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Drew Blocker, Tyler Hughes, Devin McKenzie, Michael Massey, Allen Johnson, Kenneth Colvett, Nick Westmoreland, Tony Brown and Ricky Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Main Street Church of Christ, the staff of NHC/Hillview and Hospice Compassus.
