Bernard Ramon Sparks II, age 53, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Bernard was born on June 14, 1962 in Olive Hill, Kentucky with the Sandhill Keetoowah Cherokee and Lenape Indians to the late Bernard Ramon Sparks and Marie Nichols Sparks. Bernard graduated from Buckeye State Sheriff's association Academy in 1981. He was commissioned in Warren, Ohio was a PD Reserve Officer. In 1983, Bernard was an academy graduate of the Ohio Peace Office Training. He also served in the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation in the undercover narcotics unit. He was a 1st Lieutenant with Sandhill Keetoowah Lenape Indians. Bernard served in the US Army as Military Police from 1981 - 1983. He then went into active service with the US Army from 1983 - 1988. In 1988, Bernard graduated from The Academy. Bernard also was commissioned in the Central and Southern Ohio Narcotics Task Force. He obtained his private investigator's license in 1990. From 1990 - 1994, Bernard was a contract criminal investigator in Franklin County, Ohio. Bernard was a proud founding member of the Ohio Militia and was a unit commander in the Licking CO. O.U.M. from 1990 - 1995. Bernard proudly served as a tactical team leader for the NorthPoint Tactical Team in North Carolina from 1995 - 1999. Bernard also served as a contract investigator for North Carolina Congressman Charles Taylor. In addition to his career, Bernard was a great teacher and a musician. He could play any instrument. Bernard followed a set of codes – the Code of Honor and the Warrior Code. He had a lifelong pursuit of the preservation of truth and liberty; he also had a lifelong love of the Confederacy and the Old Southern Traditions. His biggest hobby was his family. He loved having his family together. He was his children’s best friend.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home.

Bernard is survived by his wife Kathy Todd; children Brody Sparks, Erin Sparks, and Caleb Sparks; siblings Melissa Cope and Jeffrey Sparks; and step-children Deborah Gulledge, Whitney Gulledge, and Laura Gulledge.
