Basil Runions Jr.

Mr. Basil Runions, Jr., age 67, of the Hampshire community, passed away at his residence on Friday, June 6, 2014.

Basil was born on August 23, 1946 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to Betty Christine Brown Runions and the late Basil Runions, Sr. He was married to his wife of 47 years, Amy Cates Runions with whom he had three children. He worked in a lumber yard to provide for his family. He was of the Church of Christ faith.

Basil loved building things and tinkering in his shed. He took pride in the home he and Amy shared and loved keeping it neat. He enjoyed everything he did, especially fishing, and hunting turkeys, squirrels and deer. He never met a stranger and loved talking to people.

In addition to his mother and wife, Mr. Runions is survived by his children: Julie Savage, Carolyn (Dean) Jones and Stephen Michael (Melissa) Runions; grandchildren: Brian (Kiah) Savage, Holly (Eric) Runions, Chance (Vivian) Jones, Cade Jones, Jake Runions and Cole Runions: great-grandchildren: Kaedyn, Liam and Brysen Savage, and Riley Joe and Lane; and step great-grandson: Murdoc; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Ronnie Presnell and Danny Presnell.

Funeral services for Basil will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee with Bro. Monty McCanless officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, June 7, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Stephen Runions, Robert Clay, Brian Savage, Chance Jones, Dean Jones, Tim McKennon, Willey Stills, Rodney Hensley will serve as pallbearers. Cade Jones, Jake and Cole Runions, Carl McNabb, Buddy Cates, Eric Runions, Van Cates, Larry Runions, Michael Runions, Bradley Runions, Michael McAby and Jerry Carroll will serve as honorary pallbearers.
