Barbara Ann Pewitt

Barbara Ann Wiley Pewitt, age 78, of Columbia, Tennessee left for her heavenly home on January 13, 2016.

She was the daughter of the late Roy Thomas and Mary Rebecca Wiley. She married the love of her life Raymond Pewitt on June 14, 1958. She loved to quilt and talk on the phone. Her family said she loved to “carry the news.” She never met a stranger. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Her greatest loves were the Lord and her family.

Survivors include: daughters: Lori (Mike) Grooms and Paula (Ed) Garrison; grand children: Ashley (Shawn) Stewart and Dusty (fiancé Raqi Simanson) Grooms; 3 great grand children: Saylee Marshall, Hunter Stewart, and Kadom Stewart; brother: J.W. (Betty) Wiley of Nashville, TN; 2 sisters: Betty Lowe of Eagleville and Linda (Frank) Williamson of Nashville, TN; 2 brothers-in-law: Joe (Kathy) Pewitt of Columbia and Norman (Linda) Pewitt of Culleoka; sister-in-law: Nona (Bill) McDaniel of Knoxville, TN.

She was preceded in death by two brothers Thomas and Richard Wiley and four sisters Genelda Wiley, Dorothy Mosley, Mildred Tucker, and Frances Sullivan.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 15, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. A visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service. Services will be held Saturday, January 16, at 2:00 p.m. also at Williams Funeral Home with Jim Ledbetter and David Graves officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.


Pallbearers include: Dusty Grooms, Shawn Stewart, Tim Williamson, John Wiley, Joey Pewitt, Mike Sisk, Chris Pewitt, Brandon Pewitt, Jeff Wiley, Hunter Stewart, and Kadom Stewart.

Honorary Pallbearers are members of Friendship Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Barbara’s name.
