Barbara Jean Lawson

Barbara Jean Lawson, 85, of Fairhope, Alabama, and formerly Columbia, Tennessee, passed away at Bethany Health & Rehab Center in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.

Mrs. Lawson was born November 1, 1927, to the late Robert Eller and Gracie Lentz Eller. She was predeceased by her husband, William D. Lawson. Barbara was an elementary school teacher and also served as the director of the Gifted Program in Maury County schools. She attended First United Methodist Church in Columbia, Tennessee and also Fairhope Christian Church in Fairhope, Alabama.

Barbara was called the “Fairhope Hat Lady” because she loved her hats. She loved seafood, cookbooks, and especially her church.

A memorial service for Mrs. Barbara Jean Lawson will be Tuesday, March 26, at 10:00 AM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee with Bro. Scott Aleridge officiating.

Survivors for Barbara include: Her daughter, Jennifer Lawson Norris of Fairhope, Alabama; her son, Robert D. (Elaine) Lawson of Nashville, Tennessee. She also had four granddaughters, four grandsons, and eight great-grandchildren.

The grandsons will be honorary pallbearers for the service.

Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, Columbia, Tennessee and Fairhope Christian Church in Fairhope, Alabama.
