Barbara Ann Durham Brown

Barbara Ann Durham Brown, age 93, of Mount Pleasant, peacefully passed away on January 27, 2025.

Born on October 27, 1931, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Olcie Lorene and Robert Levi Durham. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Hayes “Kotchie” Brown Sr., with whom she shared a life filled with love and dedication. Barbara was also preceded in death by her daughter,Suzanne(Wayne)Mitchell, her son, Keith Alan Brown, six brothers and five sisters.

Barbara’s life was a testament to love, family, and resilience. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she found joy in the simple yet profound pleasures of life. She was an avid sports fan, especially passionate about women’s basketball. Her legendary cooking brought loved ones together, and her greatest joy was being surrounded by family.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Surviving her are her son, Harold Hayes “Hal” (Theresa) Brown Jr.; grandsons Machale (Cassandra) and Beau Mitchell, her granddaughter, Allison Brown (Kyle) Crump; and four great-grandchildren, Mason Clay Kelly, Kyle Hayes Crump, Leo Crews Crump, and Ann Winstead Crump, all of whom carry forward her spirit and love.

In accordance with Barbara’s wishes, a private family graveside memorial will be held to honor her life.

Barbara will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
