Barbara A. Fennell

Mrs. Barbara A. Kennedy Fennell, age 68, a resident of Third Avenue in Columbia passed away Saturday March 3, 2007 at Williamson Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Fennell will be conducted Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Reverend John Rushing and Rick Points officiating. Entombment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will visit with friends on Monday from 5:00 ? 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The Lawrence County native was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Ella M. Turner Kennedy and the widow of Harold Fennell. She was a graduate of Isaac Litton High School in Nashville, she then moved to Memphis where she met her husband Harold and raised her children. After her husband passed away, she returned to Columbia in 1998. Mrs. Fennell retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and was one of the first four women mail carriers in Memphis. She was a Bus Driver for the Maury County Board of Education. Her hobbies were her two grandchildren, riding motorcycles with friends, and she enjoyed camping and fishing. Mrs. Fennell was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, EveLynne Fred Nettles of Scottsdale, AZ, Gary Fennell; two grandchildren Ray Nettles and Channing Nettles both of Scottsdale, AZ; a sister, Blanche Collier of Columbia; beloved pet Mr. Jiggs her rat terrier. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Terrye Rhea; two sisters Ernestine Thornton and Georgia Cheek; two Brothers, James Kennedy and Charles Kennedy, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Ray Nettles, Fred Nettles, Bill Thornton, Ed Norwood, Brandon Lee and Billy Robinson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Patrick Murphy, Dr. Bobby White, attending nurses and techs of the Williamson Medical Center, Maury County Board of Education, and School Bus drivers, all church friends of Northside Baptist Church, Lead-On Sunday School class of Northside Baptist Church, J.A. Johnson and Robert Galbreath and Raymond Lancaster.
