Mrs. Katie Mae Azyue Nabors, age 90, a resident of Geri Street in Lawrenceburg, passed away on Thursday, December 24, at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nabors will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 P.M. at the Summertown Baptist Church with Bro. Howard Kitter officiating. Burial will follow in the Brace Cemetery in Lawrence County.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant and on Sunday after 1:00 P.M. at the church.
Born on May 22, 1919 in Alabama, Azyue was the daughter of the late Charles Simpson and Lucy Esther Jones Simpson. She was the wife of the late J.O. Nabors. Mrs. Nabors had worked for the Hosiery Mill in Mt. Pleasant and was the oldest member of the Summertown Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children: James Carolyn Nabors of Leoma and Reba Powers of Nashville; three sisters: Betty Jo Buddy Roberts of Jacksonville, FL, Billie Rosson of Lawrenceburg and Nellie Lelon Dye of Brace; one brother: Charles Dowann Simpson, jr., of Wyandot, MI; two grandsons: Darrell Sherri Nabors of Summertown and Steven Bessent of Nashville; two great-grandchildren: Taylor and Kelly Nabors of Summertown; three step-grandchildren: Melissa Simbeck of Leoma, Tina Jerry Kephart of Collinwood and Jeff Strickland of Leoma; 6 step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandson.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
