Mrs. Avis Copeland Collins, age 80, a resident of Glenstone Drive in Columbia, passed away on Sunday, May 10, at St Thomas Hospital.
Funeral services for Mrs. Collins will be conducted Thursday, May 14, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jim Ledbetter and Rev. Bobby Cates officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 5:00 –8:00 P.M. Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Born September 28, 1928 in Wayne County, Tennessee, Avis was the daughter of the late Joseph Ben and Linnie Jewell Johnson Copeland. She was the wife of the late Clifford Leon Collins. She worked at Four Seasons Market in Columbia. Avis loved creating family albums and enjoyed watching cooking shows on Television. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church where she loved having fellowship with her church family and really enjoyed singing. Avis especially loved the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Avis is survived by her children: Dianne James Gerencser and Michael Dunkin of Fort Wayne, IN, Betsy John Stofel of Columbia; grandchildren: Nicole Gerencser of Columbia, Daron Mary Dunkin of Murfreesboro and Ben Dunkin of Leoma; great-grandchildren: Sarah Gerencser, Alex Gerencser and Makayla Gerencser of Columbia, Taylor Dunkin and Noah Dunkin of Murfreesboro; two brothers: James Copeland and John Copeland of CA. several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Copeland and a sister, Claire Nelle Brewer Rameriz
Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Liberty Baptist Church.
