Asmundur Asmundsson, age 83, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Life Care Center in Columbia, TN.
Asmundur was born in Norway, February 11, 1931 to the late Gudmundur and Thora Asmundsson. Asmundur served in the Armed Foreces in Norway before taking to the sea and eventually ending up in the states. He worked for many years as a maritime captain on many different ships, piloting some of the largest cargo ships. He also spent time as a Harbor Pilot in the states based out of Miami, FL. Asmundur was a simply impressive man with an endearing since of humor, he will be dearly missed by all that knew him, especially his wife.
Asmundur is survived by his wife of over 30 years Linda “Gorham”, one brother and one sister of Norway; 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
