Arliss Shirley Littlejohn, a resident of Cayce Lane, passed away March 23, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 18, 1931 in Hartford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Russell Anthony Tischofer and Anna Lockman Tischofer. Arliss was married to her beloved husband, Bobby, for 50 years until his death in 2009. She was a 1948 graduate of Fern Hall in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She and Bobby met and married while working for Southern Bell in Ft. Lauderdale. They loved baseball and coached girls’ softball for several years. She was very active in all aspects of her kids’ lives. When Bobby retired, they returned to his hometown of Columbia. She enjoyed sewing, painting and spending time at The Maury County Senior Center. She was also a volunteer at Maury Regional Medical Center for many years and a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Arliss is survived by her children: Allen Littlejohn, Valerie (Jim) Bumpus and Kenny (Cindy) Littlejohn; grandsons: Michael (Anna) Littlejohn, Jason Littlejohn, Russell Littlejohn, Jimmy (Amy) Bumpus, Matthew (Brittani) Littlejohn, Drew (Chelsea) Bumpus, Kevin (Rachel) Littlejohn and Kyle Littlejohn; honorary grandson: Wesley Thomas; great grandchildren: Rylee, Olivia, Alora, Rowan, Kaylee, Bobby and Kohen. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter in law Debbie Littlejohn.
Pallbearers will be Drew Bumpus, Wesley Thomas, Michael Littlejohn and Dallas and Tyler Cannady.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maury County Senior Center or St. Luke United Methodist Church. The family would like to extend special thanks to Caris Hospice.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Bo Myers of St. Luke United Methodist Church and Dennis Jones with Caris Hospice officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
