Arbutus H. Brewer, age 78, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, TN passed away April 15th, 2012 at NHC Heathcare Columbia.
She was born November 22, 1933 in Toccoa, GA to the late Bern and Ethel Dodd. Arbutus, her name speaks volumes about her, it was given to her after a flower that grows specifically the area of north Georgia. Early in Arbutus's life she worked selling monuments in Athens, GA. For the rest of her life she would raise children as well as take care of the home.
Arbutus is survived by those children: One daughter: Beth Randall Lay, of Franklin, TN; One son: Carlos Brewer of Gainsville, FL; One grandson: Bradford Lay of Franklin, TN; Two sisters: Lavon Smith of Houston, TX and Eula Kinny of Mt. Airy, GA. She is also survived by one brother, Charles Dodd of Mt. Airy, GA.
