Mrs. Annie Ruth Steele Porter, age 83, a resident of Arrow Mine Rd. in Mt. Pleasant , passed away Saturday, October 30 at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg.
Born June 1, 1927, the Maury County native was the daughter of the late Craig and Neela Martin Steele and the wife of the late John H. Porter. She was a graduate of beauty school and worked as a beautician, worked at Stan?s Restaurant, for the Babcock family and Malcolm Sprinkle. She loved cooking for everyone. She was a charter member of the Broadway Street Church of Christ and she deeded the property to the build the church.
She is survived by her son: Ronnie Kaysha Porter of Murfreesboro; a sister: Leola Scruggs of Columbia; a grandson: Marquis Porter of Murfreesboro; nieces and nephew: Steve Katie Webster, Dorothy Kenneth Carter, Katie Martin, Deborah Cathey, Rosie Lee Webb; great niece: Tosha Webb; guardian & special friend: Mickie DeHaven. She was preceded in death by a sister: Betty Mae Webster and her step-father: Gloss Jones.
Funeral services for Mrs. Porter will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Williams Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Cecil Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 10:00 Am to service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Broadway Church of Christ.
