Anna Jean Walters

Anna Jean “Mama Jean” Walters, age 75, passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 4, 2017.

Mama Jean was born August 3, 1941, in Montgomery, Alabama, the daughter of the late Eugene Smith and Annie M. Mask Smith. Mama Jean was a homemaker and had worked as a unit secretary at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She was a very loving woman, loved her family unconditionally and was a great listener. She was a member of New Life Church in Columbia.

Survivors include two sons, Lee (Laurie) Martin of Dallas, TX and Darryl (Lori) Martin of Columbia; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; 3 step-children and step-grandchildren along with her best friends, Missy and Princess. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Wallace Martin and Paul Walters.

A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 6:00 P.M. at New Life Church on Cayce Lane in Columbia.

The family would like to express their special thanks to her caretakers, Georgette Bean “Margarette” Smith, Yna Johnson, Denise Sands, Ashley Ransom, Parish Martin, Seth Martin, Lindsay Martin and Robey Davidson.
