Ann Lee Mcclain

Mrs. Annie Lee McCain McClain was born on June 12, 1920 in Lexington, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Jordan Dixon and Madgie Howard McCain. Ann was the wife of William Rex Bill McClain who passed away in 2001. Upon graduating from school in Lexington, she moved to Mt. Pleasant with her family, when her father became pastor of the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Ann worked for Dr. Walton in Mt. Pleasant and later assisted her husband in their West Fork Grocery and McClain's Appliance Store. A lover of the outdoors, she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and also working in her yard. Sewing, quilt making and doing other handiwork were also her hobbies. Perhaps her favorite thing to do was helping others and working in her church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Ann was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Ann loved people, enjoyed life and had a full and beautiful life.
Ann is survived by a daughter, Sue David Greenfield of Columbia; a granddaughter, Cathy Tom Matyskiela of Columbia; a grandson, Rex Greenfield of Columbia; two great-grandsons, Tyler Matyskiela and Corey Matyskiela both of Columbia; a sister, Rebecca Walker of Gadsden, AL; a sister-in-law, Martha McCain of Centerville; two nieces, Terry Rickey Massey and Teresa Kenny Benderman both of Columbia; and four nephews, Ray Gail McCain, Mark Martha McCain and Steve McCain all of Mt. Pleasant and John Barbara Walker of Gadsden, AL. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, Andrew Sara McCain, Ottis McCain, Ford Hazel McCain, nephews, Jack Walker and Ed Walker and a niece Robin McCain.
Mrs. Annie McClain was 90 years old and a resident of North Main Street in Mt. Pleasant. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 16, 2011.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. McClain will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Jimmy Payton and Rev. Bob Mullinax officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
The McClain Family will receive friends from 4 PM until 8 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 689 , Mt. Pleasant, TN 38474.
Active pallbearers will be John Walker, Ray McCain, Steven McCain, Mark McCain, Rickey Massey, Tyler Matyskiela, Corey Matyskiela and Tom Matyskiela. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Betty Wren, Bob Wren, Ricky Ritter, Jerry and Karen Bytwerk, Dr. Robert Bain, Jerry Holt, Neal England, Bill Runions, Paul McClain and Tony Geiske.
The McClain Family would like to give a special thanks to her loving caregivers, Valarie Gant, Shirley Green, Jade Sharp and Kayla McCool.
