Angelita Mitchell age 83, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. Angie was born August 7, 1937 in Eagle Pass, Texas to the late Florencio and Jesus “Suzy” Rodriguez.
Angelita had to grow up fast. She stopped going to school in the sixth grade and began helping support her family. Upon being old enough to enter the working world Angie worked at Lansing General in Michigan as the Dietary Clerk for 25 years. During that time, she married the love of her life Richard Mitchell and they began their family. Later in life after the kids were grown they would move to Tennessee. Angie finally retired after 10 years at Whithorne Junior High as the lunch lady where she endeared herself to the many students over the years.
Angie was a loving mother with a free spirit. Someone that embraced the good things and wasn’t afraid to give loving advice. She loved music of every kind and loved to dance. She had a kindness that she always readily shared which is one of the things that made her such a wonderful mother and endeared her to so many students. She was outspoken and had a quick wit with a wonderful sense of humor. She had fierce loyalty to family and friends. When she moved to Tennessee she began attending First Assembly of God in Columbia and any time they had an event or outreach program she was always first to volunteer. Her beautiful smile that she loved to share will be so missed. Angie is deeply loved and her memory will be cherished by all that knew her.
