Angela Cavanaugh Thompson

Angela B. Cavanaugh Thompson, age 92, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at her home in Columbia, TN.
Angela was born in Memphis, TN on May 1, 1922 to the late Michael and Bertha “Rittelmeyer” Cavanaugh. Angela has been married to her husband Charles Thompson for 75 wonderful years. She lived a simple life and was a devoted person. She gave that devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her entire family and to her Lord. She and her husband attended Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Columbia, TN. She was a member of the Martha Ministry, a group of members that maintain the church. She loved to read and spend time with her family. She was a light to her family, always bringing happiness. Angela will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Angela is survived by: her husband: Charles Thompson; daughters: Carol Carson and Marilyn (Ronnie) Scroggins of Memphis, TN; sons: Kevin (Donna) Thompson of Columbia, TN, Terry (Janice) Thompson of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kenneth (Marjorie) Thompson of Santa Fe, TN; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and sister: Mary Lucille Knight of Chattanooga, TN.
Angela is preceded in death by her parents Michael and Bertha Cavanaugh; and her brother Frank Cavanaugh.
Services for Angela will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at St. Catherine’s Church in Columbia, TN. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Father Davis Chackaleckel will be officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 8th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN and a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Brad Thompson, Patrick Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Randy Thompson, Brent Scroggins, Jason Scroggins, Michael Carson, Ben Thompson, and Chris Carson.
Honorary Pallbearers: Members of the Martha Ministry of St. Catherine’s.
