Miss Alvin Amanda Chappell, 89, formerly of Walker Street and a resident of Morning Pointe in Columbia, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Miss Chappell will be conducted, Saturday January 14, 2006 at 2 :00 pm at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Dr. William W. Williamson and Reverend Maggie Beamguard officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Born in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Fount E. and Laura Amanda Voorhies Chappell. Miss Chappell was a retired shipping clerk for forty one years at Dixie Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Dortha ?Dot? Chappell of Clemmons, N.C.; two bothers-in-law, William H. Mink of West Linn, Oregon and Howard Buswell of Santa Anna, CA; a niece, Jean Patrick Powell of Columbia, TN; two nephews, David Chappell and Richard Chappell both of Columbia, TN . She is preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Chappell, Ruth Mink and Laura Buswell; four brothers, Jack, Wade, Bill and Gilbert Chappell.
Pallbearers will be Lewis Love, Charles Blasingame, James E, Butler, John Satterwhite, Danny Wise, Roscoe Stephens, Ron Neal, John Piper, John B. Chappell and L.B. Chappell, Dick Green, J.B. Long, and John Chiles.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bethany Bible Class.
