Mrs. Allene Gibson McCord, 89, died Sunday July 17, 2005 at her home on West 15th Street in Columbia.
Funeral services for Mrs. McCord will be conducted Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Curtis Dowdy and Todd Flowers officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Emmett M. and Nina Sands Gibson. Mrs. McCord was retired credit manager for First Farmers & Merchants Bank and formerly affiliated with Anderson Brothers and Foster and the Columbia Credit Bureau. She was also a former employee of Bobby Farmer Jewelers. She was the oldest current member of the Highland Church of Christ from its original location on South Main Street. Mrs. McCord was an avid flower gardner.
She is survived by a daughter, Faye Curtis Flowers of Columbia, TN; two brothers, Joe Freda Gibson and Leroy GiGi Gibson both of Coumbia, TN; three grandchildren, Keith Suzanne Flowers of Columbia, TN, Todd Tracey Flowers of Hermitage, TN, and Mindy Kevin Ogle of Nashville, TN; seven great grandchildren, Kyle Flowers, Ashlyn Flowers, Michael Flowers, Gabrielle Flowers, Kieran Ogle, Brendan Ogle, and Shelbi Ogle; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Marie McCord; two sisters, Bonnie Hickman and Christine Petty; two brothers, William Gibson and L.E. Gibson.
Pallbearers will be Paul Gibson, Larry Petty, Neal Gibson, Pat Gibson, Rainey Gibson, Jeff Prestwich, Keith Flowers, Kyle Flowers, and Alan Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be elders and deacons of Highland Church of Christ, Gayle Wheaton, Wanda Morris, Betty Holden, Lisa Reed and Margie Wade.
