Allen Eugene Clark

August 15, 1932 — June 18, 2012

Allen "Gene" Eugene Clark, born August 15, 1932, passed from this life at his home in Mt. Pleasant, on June 18, 2012. He was an iron worker by trade and served as Vice-President of Field Operations at the time of his retirement from Freedland Structural Steel Company in Livonia, Michigan.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Columbia. He was a member of the American Legion Post #10 and a lifetime member of Amvets. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #610 in Mt. Pleasant and was a 32nd degree Shriner.

Before his failing health, he was an avid golfer and fisherman and loved spending time with friends and family.

He was the son of the late Clyde and Lillian Steward Clark and was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Clark. He was married to Bessie Mae Foster for 51 years until her death on March 28, 2004. He is survived by a sister, Lucy Russell Cothran of Columbia. He was beloved uncle to nieces Sheila Dwight Cothran Nickell and Vickie Keith Cothran Tucker and nephews Phil Sharon Clark and the late Paul Clark, Jr. He had three great nieces, four great nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews. Faithful friend, Horace Boshers, was diligent to check on him daily and was quick to see to his every need. Special friend and neighbor, Wanda Thompson, cared for him and his home for several years and was greatly appreciated.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery with military honors being provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be great nephews Landon Nickell, Grant Nickell, Bryan Tucker, good friends Charles "Spud" Crotzer and Butch Hughes, and cousin Ronnie Clark.

The family extends a special thank you to all the staff at NHC in Columbia for their care and love for him.
