Alice Carolyn Krysiak Mercer, age 87, passed away February 3, 2012 at NHC Heathcare Hillview.
She was born August 10, 1924 in Clinton, MA to Paul and Maryanna Denarczyk Krysiak. Her parents, who had been born in Zalas, Russia, immigrated to the United States from Russian occupied Poland. Alice was married to her beloved husband William C. "Bill" Mercer, who precedes her in death. She was of the Catholic faith and loved her church, St. Catherine's Catholic Church. She was a dedicated wife and mother all the days of her life.
Alice is survived by her son Ken Sarah Mercer, Athens, AL; Sue Mercer, daughter-in-law; grandchildren: Tonya Delano Haywood, John W. P. Kathy Mercer, Carrie Waloven, and Shaun W. Mercer; great-grandchildren: Ashley Hie, Lacey A. Hie, Hannah Mercer, Byrn Waloven, Erin Waloven; step great-grandchildren: Kelsey Haywood, Katie Haywood, Kristin Drinkard, Randall Drinkard. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son William G. "Billy" Mercer; siblings: Mary Straitt, Stella Czapala, Antonina Lichorohree, Chester Krysiak, and Stanley Krysiak.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 at The Arbors at Polk Memorial Gardens at 2:00. Family will visit with friends from 1:30 until service time. Rev. Davis Chackaleckel, M.S.F.S of St. Catherine Catholic Church will be officiating. Williams Funeral Home, 2517 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN will be handling the arrangements.
