Alfred Amos Pagel

Alfred Amos Pagel, age 88, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Alfred was born on November 10, 1926 in Thompson’s Station, Tennessee to the late Amos A. Pagel and Bertha Koone Pagel. Alfred graduated from the Nashville School of Preaching in 1967. Throughout his years of ministry, he preached at Hall’s Chapel Church of Christ, Summertown Church of Christ, Brushy Church of Christ, and numerous other churches in the area. Alfred married Irma Slaughter and the two raised a family together. Alfred worked at Borden’s Dairy for twenty-four years and retired from Monsanto Chemical in 1986. Alfred proudly served his country in the United States Army. He joined the US Army in 1945 and served with the occupational force in Japan during WWII. He was qualified as a sharpshooter. Alfred received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal during his time of service. Alfred also excelled in home repairs and enjoyed doing repairs for others. Above all, he treasured his faith and spending time with his family.

The family will visit with friends at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Alfred is survived by his wife Irma L. Pagel of Columbia, Tennessee; sons Barry (Sharon) Pagel of St. Petersburg, Florida and Chris (Mandy) Pagel of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; daughter Linda (Ronnie) Tanner of Clarksville, Tennessee; grandsons Jason (Jennifer) Pagel, Caleb (Jessica) Pagel, Eric (Christina) Tanner, Trent Pagel, Jake Dismang, and Josh Dismang; granddaughter Lori (Mike) Koffer; great-grandchildren Noah Pagel, Luka Pagel, Sadie Pagel, Riley Pagel, Morgan Pagel, Beau Pagel, Tanner Koffer, Alyssa Koffer, Callie Koffer, Wyatt Koffer, Madison Tanner, Eric Tanner II, and Jayden Tanner; brother Wayne Pagel of Columbia, Tennessee; and sisters Mary Fowler of Pegram, Tennessee and Rachel Underwood of Maury County, Tennessee.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Jason Pagel, Eric Tanner, Caleb Pagel, Trent Pagel, Josh Dismang, and Jake Dismang.

Memorials can be made in Alfred’s honor to Harpeth Hills Church of Christ missions fund or Parkinson’s Foundation.
