Alene Vernette Johnston

Mrs. Alene Vernette Johnston, age 87, a resident of Thomas Circle in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, April 3, at Maury Regional Hospital.
No services are scheduled at this time. Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of arrangements.
Vernette was born on August 22, 1921 in Jacksonville, Fla., the daughter of the late Harold Elleman and Alene Sallas Elleman. She was married for over 70 years to the late James Johnston. Vernette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker. She was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her children: Sonny Gayle Johnston of Columbia, Bettie Al Cochran of Keystone Heights, Fla., Barbara Pete Hennessey of Fla., Day Jackie McCrannie of N.C., Deborah James Musselwhite of Hohenwald, Doris Lynn Brown of Hohenwald, Judy Johnston of Hohenwald, Dennis Lavinia Johnston of Fallon, Nev., and Micheal Johnston of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters: Sherry Stan Fierra of Jacksonville, Fla., and Doris Cochran of Jacksonville, Fla.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband Vernette was preceded in death by one daughter: Diane Lee Carlson.
