Albert Odell Spears, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at NHC Health Care.
Albert was born on March 29, 1925 in Burkeville, Kentucky to the late Jim and Pearlie Spears. He married Ethel Perry and the two shared sixty-seven wonderful years together. Albert was formerly of Williamson County, and was a lifelong farmer in the Nolensville area before moving to Maury County. He had cows, tobacco, hay, and at one point grew 2,500 tomato plants. In his younger years, Albert enjoyed hunting. He loved fishing, especially on the Tennessee River, Duck River, and in Williamsport. Albert loved his church, South Gate Church of Christ, and gospel music. Albert had a great love of many things including: to ride around; to eat; to play cards; a game of billiards, as he was a pool shark; pitching horseshoes; and he especially enjoyed getting together with his family.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Joe Macer and Brian Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Albert is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Ethel Spears; daughters Shirley Harrison of Burwood Community and Mary (Thomas) Fitzgerald of Franklin, Tennessee; sister Jewel Spears of Franklin, Tennessee; grandchildren Ernest Pruitt, Beth McCord, Becky Butts, Penny Burress, and Jessie Biggs; great-grandchildren Michael Pruitt, Megan Ladd, Lexie Butts, and Christian McCord; and great-great-grandchildren Ethan Burress, Axton Pruitt, and Auryn Ladd.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Pearlie Spears; sister Opal Florence Ruthledge; brothers Willie “Bill” Spears and Hubert “Dock” Spears; son-in-law Ralph Harrison; step-daughter Donna Sue Biggs; Harold Biggs; and Albert Biggs.
Pallbearers will be Ernest Pruitt, Thomas Fitzgerald, James McCord, Michael Pruitt, Joey Sullivan, Brandon Burress, and Adam Ladd.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of South Gate Church of Christ.
