Mr. Andrew Jackson ? A.J. ? Cummins, 62, died Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at his residence on Hay Long Avenue in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services for Mr. Cummins will be conducted Saturday, December 13, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post # 10. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Alton Jack Cummins and Christine Staggs Cummins Buie. He was retired from General Motors Corporation in Detroit, Michigan and served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. ? He was a poet and didn?t know it.?
He is survived by a daughter, Tania Steve Newberry of Lincoln Park, MI; a grandson, Michael Newberry of Long Island, NY; a sister, Linda Lentini of Mt. Pleasant, TN; several nieces and nephews; special friends; Bryan and Donna King and Reece Colvett all of Mt. Pleasant, TN. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlene Crews and Sue Sanders.
Pallbearers will be Bryan King, Reece Colvett, Kenny Floyd, Ryan Floyd, Jerry Cummins, and Malloy Cummins. Honorary pallbearers will be Seth English King Precious Bubba and his friends at the Southern Restaurant.
