Ada Joyce Massey, age 79 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on September 15, 1936, Joyce was one of eight children born to Hubert and Edna Workman Davis. She was married to G.C. Massey for 35 years until he passed away in 1990. Joyce was retired from Maury Regional Medical Center, where she worked in Central Supplies for 19 years. She enjoyed taking road trips with her daughter, Hilda, and she loved line dancing. Joyce was very active in her children and grandchildren’s lives, and she loved to provide for them. She cherished every moment her family spent together. Joyce also enjoyed TV, especially The Game Show Network. Joyce was a member of the Church of Christ faith.
Joyce leaves behind her children: Kay Runions , Hilda (Harold) Pickard, Kenny (Kathy) McKennon, Debie Jo (Douglas) Marshall, and Kim (Duane) Lovett, all of Mt. Pleasant; her grandchildren: Stephanie (Wally) Davis, Eric (Elizabeth) Hendley, Alissa (John) Nolan, Mathew (Liz) McKennon, Stacy Jo (Jay) Smith, Elayne (Richard Osborne) Fralix, Mindy (Phillip) Counts, Devan Dakota) Davenport, Amber Davenport, Beverly (Jim) Smith, Lisa (Michael) Paul, and Joshlyn Barnes; twenty-eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchild; siblingsBobby Joe Davis, Dickey (Bonnie) Davis, and Neita Workman. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents: Hubert and Edna Davis; husbands: Kenneth McKennon and G.C. Massey; grandson: Devin McKennon; and her siblings: Kenneth Davis, Laura Earl Ambrose, Betty Lou Morton, and Sue Elliott.
The family will gather with friends on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. The family will also visit with friends on Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral Services will be conducted in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eric Hendley, Mathew McKennon, Ryan Parker, Kayne Beard, Jay Smith, Landen Manning, Drew DeRidder, Phillip Counts, and Richard Osborne. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Main Street Church of Christ and Mt. Zion Church of Christ.
