Abner L. Jones

Mr. Abner L. Jones, 85, a resident of Circle Drive in Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Graveside services for Mr. Jones will be conducted Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 11:00 am at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant with Reverend Phillip Wright officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Born in Spring Hill, TN, he was the son of the late J.A.C. and Lora Hays Jones and widow of Katharine L. Jones. He was a retired engineer for Union Carbide. He served in the Army Air Corps as a bomber pilot captain on 61 missions during WWII and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
He is survived by a brother-in-law, William S. Johnson of Chattanooga, TN; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; a godson, John Stockard of Gainesville, FL. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline Snyder and Clara J. Davis and a brother, R.L. Jones.
