When you’re planning cremation service with the help of a Spring Hill, TN funeral home , for a loved one, it’ll feel like you have to make a million and one decisions. It’s easy to overlook some of these decisions and wait until the last minute to make them. But there is one decision that you should not take lightly—deciding what your loved one is going to wear when they’re cremated.

Some people don’t realize this, but families have the option of dressing their loved ones up in whatever way they want just before they’re cremated. They can put any outfit on them and let it be the last thing that they wear. Check out how to go about choosing what your loved one will wear for their cremation services below.

Decide if you want your loved one to wear something special.

You don’t have to put your loved one into a special outfit if you don’t want to. While some families choose to do it, others choose to do little more than put a sheet over their loved ones. They can’t bear the thought of parting ways with clothing that belonged to their loved one. You and your family will have to decide if you want to dress your loved one up at all.

Consider what your loved one would have wanted to be cremated in.

In some instances, a person who pre-plans their cremation services will indicate what they want to be cremated in. Or they’ll tell their family members what they want to be wearing when they’re cremated ahead of time. If your loved one did one of these things, great. But if they didn’t, it’ll be up to you to think about what they would have wanted to be wearing at the time of their cremation. Try to consider which outfits of theirs held some significant value to them.

Think about putting your loved one into an outfit that meant something to you.

If you can’t find an outfit that was special to your loved one, how about an outfit that was special to you and your family? Maybe your parent wore a certain suit or dress to every wedding and other special occasion that they attended. Or maybe they wore a certain jersey and sweatpants every Sunday to watch their favorite sports team play. Outfits like these would be perfect for cremation services.

Make sure you deliver the clothing that your loved one will be cremated in on time.

Regardless of which clothing you decide to outfit your loved one in for their cremation, it’s important for you to deliver the clothes to your funeral home as soon as you possibly can. If you wait until the last second to make a delivery, it could complicate things and even delay the cremation process.
