Maudie Louise Scroggins, age 91 of Murfreesboro and formerly of Pecos, Texas, passed away August 22, 2014 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
Maudie was born November 8, 1922 to the late Henry Jasper Brooks and the late Annie Mosley Brooks in Fly, Tennessee. She was the widow of Robert Howard Scroggins.
Before leaving Tennessee in 1958, she worked at a Greyhound Bus Station. Upon her arrival in Pecos, Texas she found herself working at a bakery. After working at the bakery, she owned a second hand store. At her store, she spent long days and nights where she really loved spending time with people, especially the children. She will be remembered for her simple loving ways and the simple life she led. Everyone made themselves at home while at Maudie’s, especially her grandchildren whom she practically raised, because they didn’t want to leave.
Maudie is survived by her children, Bob (Nanette) Scroggins of Dallas, TX, Charles Wayne Scroggins of Pecos, Texas: grandchildren, Janet L. Natividad of Pecos, Texas, Robert W. Scroggins of Odessa, Texas and Johnathan W. (Christina) Scroggins of Lake Charles, LA, and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 25, 2014 at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee at 2:00 p.m. The family will visit with friends from Noon until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
